internship at Novovoronezh NPPEight students of the Belarussian National Technical University (BNTU, Power Engineering Department) have completed a work experience internship at the Novovoronezh NPP.

With the support of the Rosenergoatom Central Administration management all the necessary security measures within the coronavirus situation were provided – that made possible to conduct on-site practice.
Within two weeks Novovoronezh nuclear engineers introduced forth-year students to operational features of nuclear power units with water-water power reactors (WWER).
The trainees visited the main processing departments of power units No4, No5 and No6 of Novovoronezh NPP — reactor, turbine, chemical, electrical, I&C shops, centralized repair shop, metal flaw detection and technical control departments.
Special attention was paid to the study of equipment and systems of the innovaitive power unit №6 of the Novovoronezh NPP with generation ‘3+’ WWER-1200. Currently, a project to build a nuclear power plant with similar Russian-designed power units is being implemented in Belarus.
“The textbooks describe everything in theory, give a mathematical model of something, in practice, students can solidify their knowledge, see everything with their own eyes, touch with their hands, communicate with specislists of the Novovoronezh NPP. The students noted the high responsibility degree of the staff, the importance of the work of nuclear scientists and commitment to the main principle — safety,” said Igor Nekalo, a lecturer at the Belarussian National Technical University, who heads a group of interns.
It should be noted that at the moment, within the framework of the intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in the construction of NPP between Russia and Belarus, more than 60 students of the Belarussian National Technical University have already completed the work experience internship and graduate practice at the Novovoronezh NPP.
