From 28 June to 9 July 2021, Institute of Nuclear Physics and Engineering of NRNU MEPhI in cooperation with the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences held the online International Summer School on Engineering Computing in Nuclear Technology. The ECINT Summer School is held for the sixth time and for the second time in a distance online format.
The Annual Summer School is a certificate course aiming to provide specialized education and training on mathematical modeling of multiphysical processes in nuclear technology. The School program contained plenary sessions with well-known experts in the nuclear energy field, lectures and practical classes. School participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with Russian (MCU, FlowVision) and foreign programs (StarCCM +) used in the nuclear industry.
Every year the number of applications and participants is growing rapidly. This year 162 applications from 34 countries were submitted. Since the School had practical sessions in order to participate in them 60 students, young professionals and postgraduates from 29 countries such as USA, UK, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, India, South Korea and etc were selected. However, anyone could join the plenary sessions.
During plenary sessions the speakers have told about the advantages and prospects of nuclear energy, the concept of Gen-IV nuclear reactors, the future of electricity generation in the world, the need to use nuclear energy in the fight against climate change and other important aspects. All lectures of the plenary session are published on the YouTube channel of INPhE MEPhI.
